Hope is Saying Maybe it Will Be
I am someone who has often turned to nature in times of stress, or sometimes for the pure joy of taking a walk in fresh air and seeing what might come across my path.
I’ve enjoyed hundreds of hours walking in the woods or on a shoreline, or just near home, camera in hand, capturing photographs. And on many occasions I have had the unexpected joy of seeing something so special that it makes me stop and think about how there are little miracles to be seen all around us.
One such example was coming across plants that had found an unlikely home on a rock to put down roots and thrive.
In the narrowest of places there is room for life, room for beauty, and always a reminder we must have hope.
When I retired from my duties as Senior Rabbi of Temple Beth El, I became interested in learning how to create videos. Some are for education and Jewish learning, others are to share my passion for photography and to record my feelings about life.
This short video, titled “Hope is Saying Maybe it Will Be” features pictures I took near our family home in North Carolina. It is edited to the Aladdin theme “A Whole New World” performed by American recording artists Peabo Bryson and Regina Belle.
If you are in need of a little encouragement today, watching this video might just help to lift your spirits and restore your hope.
Always remember: Hope is the little voice you hear whisper “maybe” when the entire world is shouting “no”.
And maybe, just maybe, there is a whole new world that is about to open for you.
Hope is believing enough in yourself to hitch your wagon to a star. For even if you don’t catch your star, you can learn to fly among the stars.
